China News Service, Beijing, February 9th (Bo Wenwen) -- Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic pointed out in an online video conference on "Challenges to economy and investment after the epidemic" hosted by the Embassy of Montenegro in China that the China-CEE cooperation mechanism is effective and efficient, and that in recent years the two countries have had fruitful cooperation in terms of high quality. The cooperation mechanism between China and CEE countries is effective and efficient.

"The China-CEE cooperation mechanism is a very effective and efficient way of cooperation for us, and its importance cannot be overstated. I am very satisfied with the fruitful results of cooperation achieved so far between Montenegro and China." Dukanovi? expressed his belief that the meeting held on that day was a very good start for the upcoming China-CEE Leaders Summit.

Djukanovic said that this year marks the 15th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Montenegro and China, and the friendship between the two countries is deepening. Through the China-CEE cooperation mechanism, the cooperation between the two sides has been further strengthened in many fields. "I am confident that we will continue to create opportunities of great significance together and contribute to strengthening new friendship and building a common future."

"Montenegro and Chinese contacts have been very fruitful in recent years, and the cooperation between us is of very high quality." Djukanovic cited the example of the Chinese enterprise that built Montenegro's first highway - the North-South Highway project, which is currently the largest and most expensive infrastructure project in Montenegro. "This project is not only very important for our economy, but also for improving the living standards of our people."

Djukanovic also said that Chinese companies have contributed to Montenegro's wine exports. "Montenegro is a traditional country that produces wine, and I know that there are very many wine producers in the market and the competition is very fierce, and I am very grateful that these Chinese companies are able to choose our Montenegrin wine."

Djukanovic stressed that "it is safe to say that we have had a very good cooperation with Chinese companies and we are very sure that we will need these extremely high-quality projects and cooperation in the future."

"Although the epidemic will probably continue for some time, I am confident that this will not affect our cooperation." Djukanovic noted that Montenegro has a very strong willingness to build and is open to all intelligent and talented investors. "I hope that our two countries will not only keep the fruits of cooperation, but also further expand our areas of cooperation and further strengthen cooperation in the fields of transportation, energy, tourism and economy, as well as science and technology."

Djukanovic said Montenegro has always been committed to building a modern, open, secure and prosperous society. He noted that the currency used in Montenegro is euro, company registration is very fast, corporate income tax is the lowest in Europe, and the banking system is stable and reliable and open to investors from all over the world. "Although we are the smallest country in the Balkans, we have great potential for development and we want to realize these development opportunities with reliable partners."

"Sun Tzu, the famous Chinese philosopher, said that strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat." According to Djukanovic, in the face of the current world full of uncertainties, it is important to combine strategic thinking with concrete work, continuous efforts and enhanced cooperation to restore a healthy economy and society as soon as possible.

According to Djukanovic, the Coronavirus epidemic, economic recession and climate warming, while posing challenges, also herald new opportunities for humanity to move "in a smarter, greener and more just direction," with investments in and incentives for green infrastructure projects becoming new drivers for economic development, job creation and adaptation to technological change.

"The way we respond to the challenge will shape our common future after the epidemic." According to Djukanovic, international cooperation will further economic recovery once countries meet the requirements for lifting the restrictions on epidemic prevention, as the pace of return to normal life accelerates.

As the Chinese Lunar New Year, the Year of the Ox is approaching, Djukanovic said that in Chinese culture the ox is given the qualities of diligence and honesty, and that "today, more than ever, we need to treat each other with honesty and work diligently to strengthen the friendship between the people of Montenegro and China."
