Delegation of the Latvian Academy of Sciences Visits the China–CEEC Innovation Cooperation Research Center
On the morning of October 16, 2025, a delegation from the Latvian Academy of Sciences visited the China–CEEC Innovation Cooperation Research Center. The meeting was attended by Mr. Xiao Shuang, Deputy Director of the Division of International Cooperation (European and African Affairs) of the Ningbo Foreign Affairs Office; Prof. Chen Zhirong, Vice President of Ningbo University of Technology (NBUT); and Ms. Zhao Rong, Deputy Director of the Office of International Affairs, NBUT. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Wang Bo, Executive Director of the Center.
Prof. Chen Zhirong introduced the general situation of NBUT and its recent progress in cooperation with Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries. Mr. Xiao Shuang emphasized that Ningbo attaches great importance to innovation cooperation with CEE countries and looks forward to deepening exchanges with Latvia in science, technology, culture, and education through institutional and academic linkages.
The leader of the delegation, Maija Kule, Academician of the Latvian Academy of Sciences introduced the research layout, key research areas, and international cooperation of the Latvian Academy of Sciences, the University of Latvia, and the Latvian Academy of Arts. Professor Wang Bo presented the development history and achievements of the Research Center. Both sides had an in-depth discussion on scientific innovation and cultural exchange, expressing their commitment to strengthening communication and promoting pragmatic cooperation and long-term development between the two institutions.
In the afternoon, Academician, Prof. Peteris Trapencieris visited the HEALTH Biological and Pharmaceutical Industrial Park in Ningbo, where he toured laboratories, R&D facilities, and technology centers. He showed great interest in the 3D-printed tumor models used for personalized therapy and exchanged views on research collaboration and technology transfer.
