On September 26, 2025, the academic seminar titled “Prospects for Central and Eastern Europe amid Shifts in Major Power Relations” was successfully convened. The seminar was jointly organized by the Institute of International Studies of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and the Czech Research Center of Zhejiang Financial College, and was hosted by the European Studies Office and the Visegrad Group Research Center of the Institute of International Studies, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences.Over twenty experts and scholars from Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Ningbo, and other regions participated, engaging in in-depth discussions on the new developments and emerging challenges facing Central and Eastern Europe in the context of a complex and evolving international environment. The China–Central and Eastern European Countries Innovation Cooperation Research Center (hereinafter referred to as the “Research Center”) was invited to attend and deliver a keynote address.
The seminar focused on the profound impact of major power competition on the political, economic, and diplomatic landscape of Central and Eastern Europe, with the aim of contributing forward-looking insights to both academic research and policy-making in related fields.Professor Wang Bo, Executive Director of the Research Center, delivered a keynote report titled “China–Central and Eastern Europe Cooperation in Science and Technology Innovation: Current Status, Challenges, and Opportunities.” His presentation resonated strongly with participants and sparked lively discussion.
